Job Description:
Roles & Responsibilities
- Ensure all plant and equipment are operated and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and safety guidelines.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and equipment manuals to assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair tasks.
- Liaise with team members regarding work orders and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Communicate effectively with engineers, foremen, and supervisors, and provide regular updates to the Panel Beater Manager.
- Conduct fault finding and repairs on complex electrical circuits and mechanical components.
- Develop and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with team members and other departments.
- Provide technical knowledge and support in the maintenance and repair of highly specialized equipment, including fleet cranes, specialist foundation machinery, and ground improvement equipment.
Selection Criteria
- A confident communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities to diagnose and resolve vehicle repair and maintenance issues.
- Trade qualifications as a Panel Beater, Automotive Body Repair Technician, Spray Painter, or a related automotive trade.
- Extensive experience in vehicle body repairs, panel alignment, dent removal, and structural repairs.
- Experience with modern automotive repair equipment, spray-painting systems, and panel beating tools.
- Previous experience working with specialised automotive repair equipment and workshop machinery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage workshop operations, coordinate repair work, and supervise staff effectively.
- High attention to quality workmanship, workplace safety, and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with technicians, supervisors, and management while maintaining efficient workflow in the workshop.
Working Conditions
- Occasional travel may be required to inspect vehicles, visit suppliers, or manage off-site repair work if necessary.
- Primarily work in a workshop and office environment, overseeing repair operations, administration, and customer service.
- Additional hours may be required when managing urgent repairs, high workloads, or meeting customer delivery deadlines.
- The role can be demanding and requires the ability to manage pressure, especially when coordinating multiple repair jobs and ensuring timely completion.
- Work schedules may vary depending on the volume of vehicle repairs, insurance assessments, and workshop project timelines.
