Job Description:
Mechanical Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all mechanical maintenance operations within the organization. This includes supervising maintenance staff, ensuring all mechanical equipment and systems are operating efficiently and safely, and implementing preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime and reduce operational costs. The role also involves planning maintenance schedules, managing budgets and resources, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and continuously improving maintenance processes to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Asset & Equipment Reliability: Implement preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance programs, respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, and ensure all mechanical systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably.
- Staff Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise mechanical maintenance personnel, fostering a safe, skilled, and high-performing team environment.
- Financial Management: Prepare and manage the mechanical maintenance budget, control repair and operational costs, track expenditures, and oversee suppliers, spare parts, and external service contractors.
- Planning & Improvement: Plan and coordinate mechanical maintenance schedules, system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment efficiency, safety, and lifespan.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all mechanical maintenance activities comply with occupational health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, while strictly enforcing safety procedures and best practices.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of mechanical maintenance activities, analyze equipment performance data, prepare reports for management, and contribute to long-term asset management and reliability planning.
Selection Criteria
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role leading a mechanical maintenance team.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, plant equipment, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage daily mechanical maintenance operations and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns and emergencies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train, supervise, and motivate mechanical maintenance staff.
- Experience in planning and implementing mechanical maintenance schedules, shutdowns, and continuous improvement projects.
- Sound financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and resource planning for mechanical maintenance activities.
- Ability to manage suppliers, contractors, spare parts, and mechanical inventory efficiently.
- Good understanding of workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mechanical systems and operations.
- Knowledge of local labour laws and compliance requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English.
- High level of organization, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple maintenance priorities.
- Flexibility to work after hours, weekends, and be on-call for urgent mechanical issues.
- Experience in industrial plants, manufacturing, hotels, or resort environments is an advantage.
