Job Description:
The Home Furnishing Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, merchandising, presentation, and sales performance of the home furnishing department. The role ensures that furniture, décor, and home accessories are displayed attractively, meet customer needs, and contribute to the company’s sales and profitability goals. The Home Furnishing Manager leads the department team, manages inventory, and maintains a high standard of customer service and visual merchandising.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and motivate the Home Furnishing team to maintain high performance, productivity, and excellent customer service.
- Plan, develop, and update product displays, room settings, and merchandising layouts to ensure an attractive and inspiring shopping experience.
- Organize and coordinate daily operational activities to ensure the department is fully prepared to meet customer needs and sales objectives.
- Monitor and control departmental budgets, inventory levels, stock movement, and resource utilization to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Maintain high standards for product presentation, store appearance, stock organization, and visual merchandising throughout the department.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, workplace health and safety requirements, and retail operational standards.
- Establish and oversee regular maintenance schedules for showroom displays, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and storage areas.
- Participate in the recruitment process by interviewing, evaluating, and selecting qualified department staff.
- Prepare staff schedules and support human resource processes including onboarding, training, performance management, coaching, and team development.
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to achieve departmental sales targets and business objectives.
- Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse personnel, and other departments to ensure product availability and timely stock replenishment.
- Analyze customer preferences, market trends, and product performance to support purchasing and merchandising decisions.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Prepare and submit operational, inventory, and sales performance reports to senior management.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in store operations, product presentation, customer engagement, and overall department performance.
Selection Criteria
- Strong knowledge of home furnishing products, furniture, home décor, interior styling, and visual merchandising principles.
- Proven ability in showroom planning, product presentation, space utilization, and creating attractive customer-focused displays.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop staff to achieve departmental goals.
- Thorough understanding of retail operations, inventory management, stock control procedures, and customer service standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess sales performance, customer trends, and operational efficiency.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements, store maintenance standards, and operational compliance procedures.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and team members.
- Basic to advanced computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office, inventory management systems, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and retail reporting tools.
- Previous experience in retail management, home furnishing, furniture sales, visual merchandising, or a related supervisory role.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering an exceptional shopping experience.
- Knowledge of current home furnishing trends, interior design concepts, and consumer preferences is highly desirable.
