Job Description:
Responsible for overseeing the service department’s daily operations, leading a team of technicians and service advisors, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, efficiency, and profitability. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a focus on operational excellence.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead, hire, train, and mentor the service department team, including technicians, service advisors, and support staff.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and resolving any service issues promptly.
- Oversee daily service operations to ensure jobs are completed efficiently, on time, and to quality standards.
- Manage service schedules, ensuring proper allocation of technicians to meet customer needs.
- Develop and manage the service department budget, track expenses, and ensure profitability through effective cost control.
- Drive service sales through upselling, cross-selling, and promoting maintenance packages or special offers.
- Ensure all repairs and services meet manufacturer standards and customer expectations.
- Oversee inventory control, ordering, and stocking of automotive parts and supplies to ensure availability and minimize waste.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, taking corrective action when needed.
- Ensure the service department complies with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide training, and create career development plans for team members.
- Address and resolve any staff or customer issues that may arise, ensuring a positive and professional atmosphere.
Selection Criteria
- 5+ years of experience in the automotive service industry, with 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive repair procedures, diagnostics, and service techniques.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- ASE Certification preferred; additional manufacturer certifications are a plus.
- Ability to manage budgets, financial performance, and operational workflows.
