Job Description:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Hardware Manager to oversee the operations, inventory, staff, and customer service within a hardware store or hardware department. The Hardware Manager is responsible for ensuring smooth store performance, maintaining stock levels, managing suppliers, and delivering excellent service to customers.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the hardware store or department.
- Supervise and train staff to ensure high performance and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels; oversee ordering, receiving, and stock rotation.
- Develop relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing and delivery terms.
- Ensure merchandising, product displays, and signage are up to company standards.
- Monitor sales trends, prepare reports, and implement sales strategies.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special orders professionally.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Oversee pricing, promotions, and seasonal stock adjustments.
Selection Criteria
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in business or retail management is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in hardware retail or a similar role.
- Strong product knowledge in tools, building materials, and hardware supplies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in inventory management and retail software systems.
- Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail
