Job Description:
The Senior Technician Manager is responsible for managing, supervising and coordinating the technical repair and servicing operations of Computer City Mimi Store. The position provides senior-level technical support, supervises technical staff, ensures quality repair services, manages workshop operations and assists in maintaining high standards of customer service and equipment handling.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the day-to-day operations of the technical repair and servicing department.
- Diagnose hardware and software faults affecting computers, laptops, mobile phones, tablets and other electronic devices.
- Carry out advanced troubleshooting, repair and servicing of electronic devices.Repair, replace and test defective hardware components, including LCD screens, batteries, charging components, motherboards and other replaceable electronic parts.
- Perform computer and laptop hardware maintenance, repair, upgrading and software servicing.Undertake advanced CPU and motherboard-related technical repair work, including reballing and related procedures where appropriate.Carry out authorised software installation, reprogramming, configuration and servicing procedures.
- Use appropriate diagnostic equipment, technical diagrams, repair tools and specialist software to identify and resolve technical faults.
- Supervise, guide and support technical employees in carrying out repair and servicing tasks.
- Allocate repair jobs to technicians according to their technical skills, experience and workload.
- Assist technical staff with diagnosing and resolving difficult or complex technical faults.
- Inspect and test completed repair work to ensure devices are functioning correctly and meet the store’s quality standards before being returned to customers.
- Maintain an organised workflow for receiving devices, recording faults, diagnosing problems, carrying out repairs, testing equipment and completing customer orders.
- Ensure all customer devices are properly identified, labelled, stored and handled during the repair process.
- Maintain and properly use technical tools, testing equipment, machinery and workshop resources.
- Monitor the condition of repair equipment and arrange maintenance or replacement where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of repair jobs, technical faults, replacement parts, servicing activities and completed repairs.
- Assist management in identifying and ordering required spare parts, technical equipment, tools and workshop materials.Monitor the use of spare parts and technical materials to minimise unnecessary wastage.
- Explain technical faults, repair requirements, costs and servicing outcomes to customers when required.
- Provide professional technical advice to customers regarding repairs, maintenance and appropriate use of electronic devices.
- Promote good customer service and ensure customers’ electronic equipment is handled responsibly and professionally.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect customer information and data accessed during repair and servicing activities.
- Keep the technical workshop clean, organised and suitable for safe and efficient operations.
- Follow workplace health and safety requirements and promote safe working practices within the technical service area.
- Ensure technicians follow appropriate procedures when handling electrical and electronic equipment.
- Report significant technical issues, equipment requirements, repair challenges and operational matters to the Owner.
- Assist the Owner with improving technical service procedures, repair efficiency and overall workshop performance.
- Stay informed about developments in computer hardware, mobile devices, electronic repair techniques and relevant diagnostic technologies.
- Perform other technical and supervisory duties reasonably assigned by the Owner in connection with the operations of the business.
Selection Criteria
- Relevant qualification, certificate or recognised training in electronics, computer hardware, information technology or a related technical field.
- Proven practical experience in computer, laptop, mobile phone and electronic device repair.
- Strong knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Demonstrated experience in advanced technical repairs, including motherboard and CPU-related repairs.Ability to diagnose complex technical faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, coordinate and train technical staff.
- Previous experience in a senior technician or technical management role will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of repair tools, diagnostic equipment and technical servicing procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple repair jobs and maintain an organised workflow.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication, interpersonal and customer-service skills.Ability to explain technical issues and repair requirements clearly to customers.
