Job Description:
Lead the daily operations of our bakery, overseeing staff scheduling and performance, managing production processes, and ensuring consistent product quality. This role is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and food safety. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, a genuine passion for baking, and proven experience managing a fast-paced bakery or food retail environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage bakery staff, providing ongoing coaching and constructive feedback to maintain high performance and a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Production Management: Oversee daily production of baked goods, ensuring consistent quality, freshness, and presentation. Plan and manage baking, preparation, and inventory schedules to meet demand efficiently.
- Customer Service: Deliver an exceptional customer experience by addressing enquiries, resolving concerns or complaints promptly, and maintaining a welcoming front-of-house environment.
- Inventory Control: Monitor ingredient and supply levels, place timely orders, minimize waste, and ensure proper stock rotation and storage.
- Quality Control: Uphold strict quality standards across all products, from ingredient selection to final display, ensuring consistency and brand standards are met.
- Operations & Safety: Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe bakery environment at all times.
- Financial Management: Control costs, track expenses, and support profitability targets through efficient operations and input into product pricing strategies.
- Marketing & Sales: Support sales growth by promoting new products, seasonal offerings, and customer loyalty initiatives, helping to drive repeat business and brand awareness.
Selection Criteria
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a bakery or food production environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, production processes, and bakery equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams effectively.
- Proven ability to manage staff, resolve operational issues, and deliver results in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Proficient in inventory management systems, POS systems, and basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
- Food Safety, HACCP, or related certification required, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
