Job Description:
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bakery, ensuring high standards of product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. This role involves managing production schedules, supervising bakery staff, maintaining food safety compliance, and meeting financial targets. The Bakery Manager plays a key role in driving innovation and excellence within the bakery section.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation, baking, and display of high-quality bakery products.
- Implement and monitor production schedules to ensure timely and efficient output.
- Maintain optimal stock levels by coordinating with procurement and managing inventory.
- Ensure bakery equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate bakery team members.
- Create work schedules and delegate responsibilities to ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities.
- Foster a positive team culture that promotes collaboration and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, hygiene protocols, and food handling regulations.
- Conduct regular quality checks to uphold freshness, taste, and presentation standards.
- Maintain accurate records of temperature logs, cleaning checklists, and inspection reports.
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure outstanding customer service.
- Handle special orders, custom cakes, and client inquiries professionally.
- Monitor product performance and customer feedback to improve offerings.
- Support marketing initiatives, seasonal promotions, and new product launches.
- Monitor sales performance and control bakery-related costs.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, waste, and productivity.
- Assist in budgeting, pricing strategy, and margin improvement.
Selection Criteria
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a bakery or food production environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to manage teams, resolve issues, and deliver results under pressure.
- Proficiency in inventory systems, POS, and basic computer applications (MS Office).
- Certificate in Food Safety, HACCP, or related training (required or willing to obtain).
